John R. Timmons, President.

 

John began his career in insurance in the international department of Johnson & Higgins, Philadelphia (now Marsh) and assisted the international broking team with placement of multinational corporate insurance programs. In 1993, John joined Balis & Co., Inc. (now Guy Carpenter) and handled the reinsurance programs for small mutual insurance companies located in Kentucky and Texas (24 companies), including serving on a broking team servicing larger mutual insurance companies located in Indiana, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.

 

In 1999, John affiliated with Benfield Greig (just prior to the merger with E.W. Blanch—now AON Benfield) and reported to the President of the U.S. operation.  There, he placed reinsurance for two large multi-line crop insurance MGAs, brokered the U.S. and Bermuda catastrophe reinsurance program for the New Zealand Earthquake Authority, and developed retrocessional protections for certain U.S. and multi-national reinsurers.

 

In 2003, John founded Timmons Reinsurance Solutions, Inc. to focus on regional insurance companies and unique consulting opportunities for highly selective engagements. He has partnered with a top-ten international reinsurance broker for access to worldwide reinsurance markets, including Lloyd’s of London. During his tenure to date, he has maintained a steady insurance company client base, assisted with various projects with other firms to include insurance company investment management, development of a SAAS reinsurance processing system in the cloud, commercial claim management, and has been the U.K. Reinsurance Director for a Lloyd’s Syndicate.

 

John was graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, earned an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting from Montgomery County Community College after swearing off book learnin’ for two decades, and more recently was graduated from the Fox School of Business, Temple University, with a Master of Business Administration, Executive Program. He also holds the insurance designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF), and Associate in Risk Management—Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E) from The Institutes.

 

A former Marine and Cavalry Scout, John is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps (R) and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He is also a member of the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry where he served as the Armory Reconstruction Project Manager, Endowment Fund Treasurer, Budget Director and finally, Risk Manager for over 22 years.
